The approval process for offshore wind farms has been amended by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency ( Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) now has sole responsibility for the approval of offshore wind farms, thus harmonising and accelerating the process. Prior to this various authorities received multiple requests in parallel for farms in the same location. The aim is that projects will. In the first instance, be evaluated by their ability to feed electricity into the grid.
