EDF expects Nicolas Sarkozy to make his scheduled visit to the Fessenheim nuclear power plant this Thursday. The Elysee maintains that the final decision on the plant has not yet been taken with the head of state expected to advocate in favour of nuclear during this visit.

At present the Elysee states there is no plan ordering the closure of the nuclear plant during this election campaign with a source at the palace reported as saying “…are we going to close Fessenheim: the answer is no".
